Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (85/15 or 90/10)
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (8 oz) jar salsa (mild, medium, or hot)
  • 1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or 9-inch pie plate.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned and no longer pink, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Return beef to low heat, stir in taco seasoning, and cook for 1 minute to blend flavors.
  4. Spread softened cream cheese evenly over the bottom of the prepared dish.
  5. Layer seasoned beef over the cream cheese, then pour salsa evenly over the top.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the salsa layer.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbling. Broil for 1 minute if desired for a golden top.

Notes

  • Drain both beef and salsa well to prevent a watery dip.
  • Assemble ahead and refrigerate—add 5–10 minutes to bake time if baking from cold.
