Air fryer baked potatoes are a quick and easy comfort food with crispy salted skins and a fluffy, tender interior, perfect as a simple side dish or a base for delicious toppings.
Ingredients
- 4 medium russet potatoes (about 220–250 g each), scrubbed and completely dried
- 4 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon kosher sea salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (optional)
- 1/4 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt (optional)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chopped chives or green onions (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes.
- Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water and scrub away any dirt. Dry them completely using a clean kitchen towel.
- Use a fork to poke several holes around each potato to allow steam to escape during cooking.
- Drizzle each potato with 1 teaspoon of olive oil and rub it evenly across the skin.
- Sprinkle the kosher salt evenly over each potato.
- Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them so air can circulate properly.
- Cook at 375°F (190°C) for about 35 minutes, or until a fork easily pierces through the center.
- Carefully remove the hot potatoes using tongs.
- Cut a slit lengthwise across the top of each potato and gently press the ends toward the center to open them.
- Add butter, sour cream, cheese, pepper, or any preferred toppings and serve immediately.
Notes
- Dry the potatoes completely before oiling to help the skin become crispy.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation.
- Cooking time may vary slightly depending on the size of the potatoes and the air fryer model.
- Russet potatoes work best because their high starch content creates a fluffy interior.
- For extra crispy skin, lightly rub additional salt on the potato skins before cooking.
