Description

Air fryer baked potatoes are a quick and easy comfort food with crispy salted skins and a fluffy, tender interior, perfect as a simple side dish or a base for delicious toppings.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium russet potatoes (about 220250 g each), scrubbed and completely dried
  • 4 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt (optional)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped chives or green onions (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes.
  2. Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water and scrub away any dirt. Dry them completely using a clean kitchen towel.
  3. Use a fork to poke several holes around each potato to allow steam to escape during cooking.
  4. Drizzle each potato with 1 teaspoon of olive oil and rub it evenly across the skin.
  5. Sprinkle the kosher salt evenly over each potato.
  6. Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them so air can circulate properly.
  7. Cook at 375°F (190°C) for about 35 minutes, or until a fork easily pierces through the center.
  8. Carefully remove the hot potatoes using tongs.
  9. Cut a slit lengthwise across the top of each potato and gently press the ends toward the center to open them.
  10. Add butter, sour cream, cheese, pepper, or any preferred toppings and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Dry the potatoes completely before oiling to help the skin become crispy.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation.
  • Cooking time may vary slightly depending on the size of the potatoes and the air fryer model.
  • Russet potatoes work best because their high starch content creates a fluffy interior.
  • For extra crispy skin, lightly rub additional salt on the potato skins before cooking.
