Description

Apple rings with puff pastry are a simple yet delightful treat made of firm apple slices wrapped in flaky puff pastry, coated with cinnamon sugar, and baked until golden. They’re cozy, comforting, and perfect for a quick snack or dessert.

Ingredients

2 medium apples (Braeburn, Jonagold, or similar firm variety)

1 roll puff pastry (about 275 g, refrigerated)

4 tbsp milk (or plant-based milk alternative)

2 tbsp sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Wash apples and slice into 1 cm thick rounds. Remove cores to form rings.
  2. Unroll puff pastry and cut into strips 1–2 cm wide.
  3. Wrap each apple ring with 2–3 strips of puff pastry, threading dough through the center and around the apple.
  4. Place wrapped rings on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Brush with milk, then sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F, fan-assisted) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar (optional), and serve warm.

Notes

  • Pat apple slices dry before wrapping to prevent soggy pastry.
  • For extra crunch, sprinkle chopped almonds or hazelnuts before baking.
  • Serve warm with ice cream, vanilla sauce, or applesauce for a decadent dessert.
  • Use plant-based puff pastry and non-dairy milk for a vegan version.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge 1–2 days and reheat in oven or air fryer to restore crispness.
