Description
Apple rings with puff pastry are a simple yet delightful treat made of firm apple slices wrapped in flaky puff pastry, coated with cinnamon sugar, and baked until golden. They’re cozy, comforting, and perfect for a quick snack or dessert.
Ingredients
2 medium apples (Braeburn, Jonagold, or similar firm variety)
1 roll puff pastry (about 275 g, refrigerated)
4 tbsp milk (or plant-based milk alternative)
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Wash apples and slice into 1 cm thick rounds. Remove cores to form rings.
- Unroll puff pastry and cut into strips 1–2 cm wide.
- Wrap each apple ring with 2–3 strips of puff pastry, threading dough through the center and around the apple.
- Place wrapped rings on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Brush with milk, then sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F, fan-assisted) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar (optional), and serve warm.
Notes
- Pat apple slices dry before wrapping to prevent soggy pastry.
- For extra crunch, sprinkle chopped almonds or hazelnuts before baking.
- Serve warm with ice cream, vanilla sauce, or applesauce for a decadent dessert.
- Use plant-based puff pastry and non-dairy milk for a vegan version.
- Store leftovers in the fridge 1–2 days and reheat in oven or air fryer to restore crispness.
