Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (for glaze)
- 2 to 3 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix milk, eggs, oil or melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
- Spoon or pipe batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about three-quarters full.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool donuts in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Whisk powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze.
- Dip cooled donuts into the glaze and allow it to set before serving.
Notes
- Avoid overmixing to keep donuts tender.
- Glaze donuts only after they are completely cool.
- Add chocolate chips or nuts for extra texture.
