Description

Soft, moist baked chocolate donuts with rich cocoa flavor, finished with a simple chocolate glaze for a lighter yet indulgent homemade treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (for glaze)
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix milk, eggs, oil or melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Spoon or pipe batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about three-quarters full.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Cool donuts in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  8. Whisk powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze.
  9. Dip cooled donuts into the glaze and allow it to set before serving.

  • Avoid overmixing to keep donuts tender.
