Description

Cheese Danish Delight is a buttery, flaky pastry filled with a sweet, tangy cream cheese center and baked until golden. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert, it’s a cozy and indulgent treat that feels bakery-fancy yet simple to make at home.

Ingredients

All-purpose flour

Granulated sugar

Salt

Cold unsalted butter, cubed

Cold water (as needed)

8 oz cream cheese, softened

½ cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 large egg

1 tbsp milk

Optional add-ins:

Fruit preserves or fresh berries

Chopped nuts

Mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add cold water just until dough comes together. Shape into a disk, wrap, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  2. Make the Filling: Blend softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Assemble: Roll dough into ¼-inch thick rectangle. Cut into 4×4-inch squares. Spoon filling in the center, fold corners to the center, and pinch to seal.
  4. Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment. Arrange danishes, brush with egg wash (egg + milk), and bake 15–20 minutes until golden.
  5. Cool and serve: Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Customize with fruit, nuts, or chocolate chips in the filling.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temp (2 days) or fridge (5 days).
  • Reheat at 350°F for 5–8 minutes. Freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Puff pastry can be used for a shortcut version.
