- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and cook the diced onion for about 3 minutes until softened.
- Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook for 7–8 minutes, breaking it apart until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir in ketchup and mustard.
- In a bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
- Add the soup mixture to the beef and stir well. Simmer for 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the beef.
- Arrange the frozen French fries evenly on top.
- Bake uncovered for 25 minutes until fries are golden and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the fries.
- Return to the oven and bake for another 5–7 minutes until the cheese melts.
- Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Bake uncovered to keep the fries crispy.
- Different fry styles such as crinkle-cut or waffle fries can be used.
- Add chopped pickles for a classic cheeseburger flavor twist.
- Extra cheese blends like mozzarella or Monterey Jack create a gooier texture.
- Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, or burger sauce for a loaded version.
