Description

Soft baked pizza dough filled with seasoned taco beef and melty cheese sticks, brushed with garlic butter and baked until golden for an easy handheld snack or meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix (about 1 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tube Pillsbury pizza dough (about 13.8 oz)
  • 5 colby jack and cheddar cheese sticks, halved to make 10 pieces
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for dusting surface if needed)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat cook the ground beef for 6–8 minutes until browned, breaking it apart while cooking.
  3. Drain excess fat and stir in taco seasoning and water. Cook for 1–2 minutes until well combined and flavorful. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. Lightly flour a work surface and unroll the pizza dough into a rectangle.
  5. Cut the dough into 10 equal rectangles.
  6. Spoon about 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons of seasoned beef into the center of each rectangle.
  7. Place one half of a cheese stick on top of the beef filling.
  8. Fold the dough around the filling and pinch the edges tightly to seal.
  9. Place the taco sticks seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and parsley if desired.
  11. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown and fully baked.
  12. Allow to cool for 3–5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overfill the dough to prevent leaks while baking.
  • Pinch seams tightly to keep the cheese from escaping.
  • Mozzarella or pepper jack cheese sticks can replace the colby jack.
  • Serve with salsa, sour cream, or guacamole for dipping.
  • Reheat in an oven or air fryer to keep the crust crisp.
