Description
Soft baked pizza dough filled with seasoned taco beef and melty cheese sticks, brushed with garlic butter and baked until golden for an easy handheld snack or meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix (about 1 oz)
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tube Pillsbury pizza dough (about 13.8 oz)
- 5 colby jack and cheddar cheese sticks, halved to make 10 pieces
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for dusting surface if needed)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a skillet over medium heat cook the ground beef for 6–8 minutes until browned, breaking it apart while cooking.
- Drain excess fat and stir in taco seasoning and water. Cook for 1–2 minutes until well combined and flavorful. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Lightly flour a work surface and unroll the pizza dough into a rectangle.
- Cut the dough into 10 equal rectangles.
- Spoon about 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons of seasoned beef into the center of each rectangle.
- Place one half of a cheese stick on top of the beef filling.
- Fold the dough around the filling and pinch the edges tightly to seal.
- Place the taco sticks seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and parsley if desired.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown and fully baked.
- Allow to cool for 3–5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Do not overfill the dough to prevent leaks while baking.
- Pinch seams tightly to keep the cheese from escaping.
- Mozzarella or pepper jack cheese sticks can replace the colby jack.
- Serve with salsa, sour cream, or guacamole for dipping.
- Reheat in an oven or air fryer to keep the crust crisp.
