Description
A warm and comforting cobbler made with soft cinnamon roll pieces baked over sweet apple pie filling and finished with a drizzle of icing for a simple dessert that tastes like apple pie and cinnamon rolls combined.
Ingredients
- 2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls (12.4 oz / 352 g each), icing included
- 2 cans apple pie filling (21 oz / 595 g each)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (optional for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9 × 13-inch baking dish.
- Open the cinnamon roll cans and set the icing packets aside.
- Cut each cinnamon roll into four pieces.
- Spread the apple pie filling evenly across the bottom of the baking dish.
- Sprinkle the ground cinnamon over the apples and gently mix.
- Arrange the cinnamon roll pieces evenly over the apple filling leaving small gaps.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes until the cinnamon rolls are golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling.
- Remove from the oven and allow the cobbler to cool for 5–10 minutes.
- Warm the reserved icing slightly and drizzle it over the cobbler.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
Notes
- Leave small gaps between the cinnamon roll pieces so the apple filling can bubble through.
- Adding chopped pecans or walnuts gives the cobbler extra crunch.
- For more spice, add a pinch of nutmeg or apple pie spice.
- A drizzle of caramel sauce after baking adds extra sweetness.
- This dessert tastes best served warm.
