Description

A soft, pull-apart cinnamon bread shaped into a stunning star with layers of sweet cinnamon filling and topped with a rich cream cheese frosting. Perfect for holidays or cozy brunches.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk (regular or plant-based)
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (regular or plant-based)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup softened butter (regular or plant-based)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tsp cinnamon
  • 4 oz cream cheese (regular or plant-based)
  • 4 tbsp softened butter (regular or plant-based)
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, maple syrup, and salt. Sprinkle yeast over and let sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Add flour and mix to form a soft dough. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  3. Divide dough into 3 equal balls. Roll each into a circle (~1/3 inch thick). Spread half the cinnamon filling (butter, sugar, cinnamon mixture) on the first, top with second circle, spread the rest, and top with the third.
  4. Use a small bowl to mark the center. Cut strips from the bowl outward, twist each pair to form star points.
  5. Transfer dough on parchment to baking sheet, cover, and rise for 30 minutes. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes until golden.
  6. Mix cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar for frosting. Spread on bread once cooled slightly.
