Description

These Cinnamon Sugar Twisted Donuts are soft, oven-baked treats coated in a sweet cinnamon sugar layer. Quick and easy to make, they offer nostalgic flavor with a fluffy, golden texture—perfect for breakfast or a cozy snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, mix the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Fold the wet ingredients into the dry just until combined—do not overmix.
  5. Transfer batter to a piping bag and pipe into the donut pan, filling each cavity halfway.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden and springy. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  7. Mix cinnamon and sugar in a shallow bowl for the topping.
  8. Brush each warm donut with melted butter and roll in cinnamon sugar until coated.
  9. Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy!

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the batter—this keeps the donuts soft and airy.
  • Customize with chocolate glaze, vanilla icing, or chopped nuts for variety.
  • You can bake in a muffin tin if you don’t have a donut pan (increase bake time slightly).
