Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon matcha powder
- 1/4 cup hot water (around 176°F or 80°C)
- 1–2 tablespoons earl grey syrup (homemade or store-bought)
- 3/4 cup milk (whole, almond, oat, or preferred type)
- Ice (optional, for iced version)
Instructions
- Sift matcha powder into a bowl using a fine-mesh strainer to remove clumps.
- Add hot water and whisk vigorously in an “M” motion until frothy and smooth.
- In a serving glass, mix earl grey syrup and milk together.
- If making an iced version, add ice to the glass.
- Pour the frothy matcha over the milk mixture and stir well.
Notes
- Use ceremonial grade matcha for the best flavor and color.
- Sweeten the matcha layer separately for a more balanced sweetness.
- For extra creaminess, use more milk and less water.
- Matcha ice cubes help maintain flavor in iced versions.
