Description
These easy baked apple crumb donuts are soft, moist, and packed with warm cinnamon and nutmeg flavors. Topped with a sweet crumb and dusted with powdered sugar, they make a perfect cozy breakfast or snack.
Ingredients
- 2 cups pancake mix
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup milk (1%)
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 cup apple, finely diced
- ¼ cup butter, softened (for crumb topping)
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed (for crumb topping)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour (for crumb topping)
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon (for crumb topping)
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg (for crumb topping)
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray donut pans with nonstick spray.
- In a bowl, whisk together pancake mix, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Add milk, egg, and melted butter, stirring until smooth. Fold in diced apples.
- Transfer batter to a piping bag and fill each donut mold about ¾ full.
- In a separate bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg to make crumb topping.
- Sprinkle crumb topping over each donut.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until donuts are cooked through and the topping is set.
- Cool in pan for 5 minutes, remove from pan, and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Use pears instead of apples for a fruity variation.
- Add chopped walnuts or pecans to the crumb topping for crunch.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce instead of powdered sugar for added flavor.
- Whole wheat pancake mix can be used for a heartier version.
