Ingredients

  • 12 mozzarella cheese sticks (low-moisture)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Italian-style or panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Cooking oil for frying (enough for about 1 inch depth in pan)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mozzarella sticks by leaving them whole or cutting in half. Pat them dry thoroughly.
  2. Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with oregano and garlic powder.
  3. Coat each stick in flour, dip into eggs, then coat in breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to adhere. Repeat egg and breadcrumb coating for extra crispiness.
  4. Place coated sticks on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F).
  6. Fry frozen sticks in small batches for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve immediately while hot and melty.
