Description
Golden and crispy on the outside with a gooey, stretchy mozzarella center, these easy homemade mozzarella sticks deliver a delicious snack or appetizer with classic garlic and herb flavor.
Ingredients
- 12 mozzarella cheese sticks (low-moisture)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Italian-style or panko breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Cooking oil for frying (enough for about 1 inch depth in pan)
Instructions
- Prepare the mozzarella sticks by leaving them whole or cutting in half. Pat them dry thoroughly.
- Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with oregano and garlic powder.
- Coat each stick in flour, dip into eggs, then coat in breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to adhere. Repeat egg and breadcrumb coating for extra crispiness.
- Place coated sticks on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F).
- Fry frozen sticks in small batches for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve immediately while hot and melty.
Notes
- Freezing is essential to prevent cheese from leaking أثناء frying.
- Double coating creates a thicker, crunchier crust.
- Use low-moisture mozzarella for best results.
- Air fry at 200°C for 5–6 minutes for a lighter version.
- Serve with marinara, garlic sauce, or yogurt-based dips.
