Description
These easy homemade cinnamon twists are made with puff pastry, cinnamon sugar, and a simple glaze, creating warm, flaky treats in under 30 minutes. Perfect for brunch, snacks, or a cozy dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 package frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons whole milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unfold thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and gently roll to smooth creases.
- In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
- Brush the puff pastry with melted butter and sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Slice into 1-inch-wide strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter (about 12 strips).
- Twist each strip 4–5 times, cinnamon sugar side in, and place on the baking sheet with space between.
- Brush the tops with remaining butter and sprinkle with any leftover cinnamon sugar.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes or until puffed and golden. They should sound hollow when tapped with a fork.
- While baking, make glaze by whisking powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Drizzle glaze over warm twists before serving.
Notes
- Add chocolate chips, dried apples, or chopped nuts for variations.
- Best served warm, but can be reheated in the oven at 350°F for 5 minutes.
- Unbaked twists can be frozen and baked straight from frozen—just add 3–4 minutes to the bake time.
- If puff pastry gets sticky, chill it in the fridge before continuing to work with it.
