Description

English Coffee with Roasted Figs is a refined twist on classic coffee, blending the deep richness of Kenyan and Colombian coffee beans with naturally sweet, slow-roasted figs. It’s a comforting, aromatic drink perfect for cozy mornings or a sophisticated after-dinner cup.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz (120 g) fresh figs, sliced into 1/4-inch slices
  • 1/2 pound (240 g) whole bean Kenya AA or Ethiopian coffee
  • 1/2 pound (240 g) whole bean Colombian coffee

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (149°C).
  2. Place sliced figs on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Roast for 1–2 hours until dry and slightly crackly.
  3. Let roasted figs cool completely.
  4. Combine cooled figs with both types of coffee beans in a blender or coffee grinder.
  5. Grind to your preferred consistency for brewing.
  6. Use your favorite method (French press, pour-over, drip) to brew the coffee as usual.
  7. Serve hot. Add sweetener, cream, or spices if desired.

Notes

  • Dried figs can be used in place of fresh for a faster version.
  • Add honey or maple syrup to enhance the fig’s natural sweetness.
  • Stir in cream or milk for a smoother texture.
  • Sprinkle in cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom for a spiced variation.
  • Serve with a biscuit or pastry for a cozy pairing.
