Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
- For the sauce:
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- ½ cup beef broth or water
- 1 tsp sesame oil
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add diced onion and sauté for 2 minutes until softened.
- Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground beef, breaking it up, and cook until browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Add bell peppers and cook for 3–4 minutes until slightly softened.
- In a bowl, whisk soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, broth, black pepper, and sesame oil.
- Pour sauce into skillet and stir to coat everything. Cook 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Add red pepper flakes, stir, and remove from heat.
- Serve hot over rice or noodles.
Notes
- Use ground chicken or turkey for a lighter version.
- Add mushrooms or snap peas to increase vegetables.
- Skip red pepper flakes for a milder flavor.
- Use tamari and gluten-free sauces to make this gluten-free.
