Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (mozzarella or mixed)
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add warm milk and olive oil, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into 8–10 portions.
  6. Flatten each piece, spread butter, and add shredded cheese in the center.
  7. Fold and seal edges to form rolls.
  8. Place on a lined baking tray, cover, and let rest for 20–30 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  10. Brush rolls with egg yolk mixed with milk.
  11. Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Cool slightly before serving.
