- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced dill pickles
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 egg roll wrappers
- 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Add the diced onion and cook for about 3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in garlic powder, salt, and black pepper and mix well.
- Remove the skillet from heat and stir in ketchup, mustard, diced pickles, and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Place an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface in a diamond shape.
- Add about 3 tablespoons of the filling in the center of the wrapper.
- Fold the bottom corner over the filling, fold the side corners inward, and roll tightly toward the top corner.
- Brush the top corner with the egg mixture to seal the egg roll.
- Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Heat vegetable oil to 175°C (350°F) in a deep skillet or pot.
- Fry the egg rolls in batches for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with ketchup, mustard, or burger sauce.
Notes
- Add diced jalapeños or chili flakes for a spicier version.
- Cheddar can be replaced with mozzarella or Colby jack cheese.
- For a lighter option bake the egg rolls at 200°C (400°F) for about 15 minutes.
- Cook in an air fryer at 190°C (375°F) for 8 to 10 minutes for a crisp result.
- Ensure oil is hot enough before frying to avoid greasy egg rolls.
