A smooth and creamy no-bake banana dessert with a rich caramel topping, similar to a custard or flan, made easily on the stovetop.
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 can (397 g) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (354 ml) evaporated milk
- 4 large eggs
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Heat sugar in a pan over medium heat until melted and golden caramel forms.
- Pour caramel into a mold and swirl to coat the bottom. Let it harden.
- Blend condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla until smooth.
- Pour mixture over hardened caramel.
- Place mold in a larger pot and add hot water halfway up the sides to create a water bath.
- Cover and cook over low heat for 40–50 minutes until set.
- Remove from heat, cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
- Run a knife around edges and invert onto a plate before serving.
Notes
- Use ripe bananas for best sweetness and flavor.
- Do not overcook caramel to avoid bitterness.
- Ensure water bath stays at a gentle simmer.
- Chill thoroughly for proper texture.
