Description
Espresso coffee is a bold, concentrated black coffee that can be made at home with or without a machine. Using ground coffee, a moka pot, or even instant coffee, you can create a rich shot of espresso in minutes — perfect for mornings or an afternoon boost.
Ingredients
- 1 heaped teaspoon freshly ground coffee powder (or strong instant coffee)
- 60–70 ml hot water
- Sugar (optional, for froth or sweetness)
Instructions
- Espresso without machine: Boil water and remove from heat. Add coffee powder to a glass, pour over hot water, stir, let steep for 2–3 minutes, strain, and serve hot.
- Espresso using moka pot: Fill bottom chamber with water, add coffee powder to filter basket (loosely), assemble, and heat on low until coffee flows into the top chamber. Remove from heat, stir, and serve.
- Espresso with sugar froth: Beat 1 tsp instant coffee, 3 tsp sugar, and 1–2 tsp warm water until pale and creamy. Spoon into a glass, pour hot espresso over, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Always use freshly ground coffee for the most authentic flavor.
- Instant coffee works for a quick version but won’t be as intense as espresso beans.
- Never microwave espresso when reheating — use the stovetop instead.
- Serve immediately for best flavor.
