Description

Espresso coffee is a bold, concentrated black coffee that can be made at home with or without a machine. Using ground coffee, a moka pot, or even instant coffee, you can create a rich shot of espresso in minutes — perfect for mornings or an afternoon boost.


Ingredients

  • 1 heaped teaspoon freshly ground coffee powder (or strong instant coffee)
  • 6070 ml hot water
  • Sugar (optional, for froth or sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Espresso without machine: Boil water and remove from heat. Add coffee powder to a glass, pour over hot water, stir, let steep for 2–3 minutes, strain, and serve hot.
  2. Espresso using moka pot: Fill bottom chamber with water, add coffee powder to filter basket (loosely), assemble, and heat on low until coffee flows into the top chamber. Remove from heat, stir, and serve.
  3. Espresso with sugar froth: Beat 1 tsp instant coffee, 3 tsp sugar, and 1–2 tsp warm water until pale and creamy. Spoon into a glass, pour hot espresso over, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Always use freshly ground coffee for the most authentic flavor.
  • Instant coffee works for a quick version but won’t be as intense as espresso beans.
  • Never microwave espresso when reheating — use the stovetop instead.
