Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, whisk flour and salt. Make a well in the center.
- Pour in the yeast mixture and ¼ cup melted butter. Stir to form a rough dough.
- Knead on a floured surface for 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
- Punch down the dough and divide into 12 pieces. Shape each into a ball.
- Place rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Mix remaining butter with minced garlic and brush half over rolls.
- Let rise again for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush with remaining garlic butter and sprinkle with parsley if desired.
Notes
- Use roasted garlic for a milder, sweeter flavor.
- Add herbs like rosemary or thyme to the dough for extra aroma.
- Top with grated cheese before baking for a cheesy twist.
- Substitute whole wheat flour for a more rustic version; add extra water if needed.
