Ingredients
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 fresh jalapeños, finely chopped and seeds removed
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup finely chopped halal smoked turkey slices or beef pastrami
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a floured surface, roll out one sheet of puff pastry into a rectangle.
- Spread half of the cream cheese evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border.
- Sprinkle half of the cheddar, jalapeños, smoked meat, and seasonings over the cream cheese.
- Top with the second puff pastry sheet and gently press down.
- Cut into 1-inch wide strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
- Twist each strip and place on the prepared baking sheet, spaced apart.
- Whisk together the egg and milk, then brush over the twists.
- Brush with melted butter for added flavor and color.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until golden and puffed.
- Let cool slightly before serving.

- Adjust jalapeño quantity to control spiciness.
- Can be assembled ahead and baked fresh when needed.
