Description
Tender, flaky cod fillets baked in a flavorful lemon butter sauce with garlic, herbs, and fresh parsley. A quick and elegant dish perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 4 cod fillets (about 6 oz each, ~1 inch thick)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 garlic cloves, pressed or minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ½ lemon, sliced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a small bowl, combine softened butter with garlic, salt, paprika, black pepper, and dried basil.
- Pat cod fillets dry and place in a baking dish.
- Spread the butter mixture over the top of each fillet.
- Place a lemon slice on top of each fillet.
- Bake for 14–15 minutes, until fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately, with extra lemon slices if desired.
Notes
- Use other firm white fish like haddock or tilapia as a substitute.
- Red pepper flakes can be added for heat.
- Make the butter mixture ahead and refrigerate for up to a day.
- Ensure cod is completely thawed and patted dry if using frozen fillets.
- Serve with steamed vegetables, rice, or salad for a complete meal.
