Description

Mac & Cheese Burger Rolls are a fun, handheld twist on classic comfort foods. Creamy mac and cheese and seasoned ground beef are wrapped in soft dough and baked until golden—perfect for casual dinners, parties, or game days.

Ingredients

  • For the mac and cheese:
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • For the burger filling:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • For assembly:
  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough or crescent roll dough
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute.
  4. Whisk in milk gradually and cook until thickened. Stir in cheese, salt, and pepper until smooth. Fold in cooked pasta and set aside.
  5. In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat and stir in salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Let cool slightly.
  6. Roll out dough on a floured surface and cut into 8 equal rectangles.
  7. Spoon mac and cheese onto each piece of dough, top with beef, and roll up tightly. Place seam-side down on prepared baking sheet.
  8. Brush tops with melted butter and bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use a blend of cheeses like Monterey Jack or mozzarella for variety.
  • Add mustard, ketchup, or pickles for a burger-inspired twist.
  • Reheat in the oven to maintain a crispy exterior.
  • Pizza dough offers a chewy texture; crescent dough gives a softer bite.
  • Can be made ahead or frozen after baking.
