Description
Mashed Potato Turkey Bombs are crispy, golden bites filled with creamy mashed potatoes and melted cheese, wrapped in smoky turkey strips, and baked to perfection. Crunchy on the outside and cheesy on the inside, they make a fun appetizer or satisfying snack.
Ingredients
- 3 cups thick mashed potatoes, chilled
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or mozzarella
- 12–16 slices turkey strips (smoked turkey rashers)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
- Toothpicks for securing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine chilled mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley. Mix well.
- Scoop about 2 tablespoons of mixture and form into compact balls. Repeat with remaining mixture.
- Wrap each potato ball tightly with one slice of turkey strip, using two if needed. Secure with a toothpick.
- Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Lightly brush each with olive oil.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, turning halfway through, until turkey is browned and slightly crispy.
- Cool for 5 minutes, remove toothpicks, and serve warm.
Notes
- Mashed potatoes must be thick and fully chilled to hold shape.
- Brush lightly with oil for better crisping.
- Air fry at 390°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes as an alternative.
- Freeze unbaked bombs and bake from frozen with extra cooking time.
- Turn halfway through baking for even browning.
