Description

A hearty and comforting meatball sub casserole made with biscuit dough, savory meatballs, rich pasta sauce, and melted cheese, baked to perfection for an easy family meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits (about 8 pieces)
  • 1 jar pasta sauce (24 oz / 650 ml)
  • 1 package frozen cooked meatballs (about 32 meatballs)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with olive oil.
  2. Cut each refrigerated biscuit into quarters and spread evenly in the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. Arrange the frozen cooked meatballs evenly over the biscuit pieces.
  4. Pour the pasta sauce over the meatballs and biscuits, ensuring everything is well coated.
  5. Sprinkle garlic powder, oregano, and black pepper evenly over the top.
  6. Add shredded mozzarella cheese, followed by grated parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until biscuits are cooked through and cheese is melted and golden. Cover loosely with foil halfway if needed.
  8. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • No need to thaw frozen meatballs before baking.
  • Cover with foil if the top browns too quickly.
  • Add vegetables like bell peppers, mushrooms, or onions for extra flavor.
  • Swap cheeses such as cheddar or provolone for variation.
  • Use homemade meatballs if preferred.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze for up to 2 months and thaw overnight before reheating.
  • Reheat in oven for best texture or microwave for convenience.
