Ingredients
- 2 large white onions
- 3 slices mozzarella cheese
- 250 g plain flour
- 5 large eggs
- 150 g breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Peel onions and cut into 1 cm thick rings. Separate rings.
- Cut mozzarella into sticks to fit inside rings.
- Prepare three bowls: flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Place mozzarella inside one onion ring and cover with another ring to form a sandwich.
- Coat in flour, dip in egg, then coat in breadcrumbs.
- Repeat egg and breadcrumb coating for a double layer.
- Heat oil to 175°C (350°F) and fry in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot.

- Freeze cheese sticks briefly to prevent early melting.
- Double coating ensures extra crispiness.
- Do not overcrowd oil while frying.
- Serve immediately for best texture.
- Use high smoke point oil like vegetable or canola.
