Description

Crispy onion rings stuffed with gooey melted mozzarella, coated in a golden crunchy crust—perfect as a fun and indulgent snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 2 large white onions
  • 3 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 250 g plain flour
  • 5 large eggs
  • 150 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Peel onions and cut into 1 cm thick rings. Separate rings.
  2. Cut mozzarella into sticks to fit inside rings.
  3. Prepare three bowls: flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. Place mozzarella inside one onion ring and cover with another ring to form a sandwich.
  5. Coat in flour, dip in egg, then coat in breadcrumbs.
  6. Repeat egg and breadcrumb coating for a double layer.
  7. Heat oil to 175°C (350°F) and fry in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Freeze cheese sticks briefly to prevent early melting.
  • Double coating ensures extra crispiness.
  • Do not overcrowd oil while frying.
  • Serve immediately for best texture.
