Description

This cozy mulled apple juice is a non-alcoholic winter warmer infused with cinnamon, cloves, and orange zest. Easy to make and wonderfully aromatic, it’s the perfect comforting drink for all ages during cold weather or festive gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 litre (1¾ pints) apple juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick, plus 6 more for garnish
  • 6 cloves
  • 4 wide strips orange zest
  • 1 knob stem ginger in syrup, sliced (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon syrup from the stem ginger jar (optional)
  • Small pinch ground allspice

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a large saucepan.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  3. Reduce heat and let mull for about 15 minutes.
  4. Strain to remove solids.
  5. Pour into mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks.

Notes

  • Use cloudy apple juice for a richer flavor.
  • Stem ginger is optional; fresh ginger can be substituted or omitted.
  • Add honey or maple syrup for extra sweetness.
  • Star anise or orange juice can enhance citrus notes.
