Description

A playful and indulgent no-fuss dessert made with a soft chocolate cake rolled around a creamy Oreo cream cheese filling, sliced into fun sushi-style bites perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (about 15.25 oz or 3 cups dry mix)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • Water, as required on the cake mix box
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 10 to 12 Oreo cookies, finely crushed
  • Optional: extra crushed Oreos or powdered sugar for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare chocolate cake batter according to package instructions using eggs, oil, and water.
  3. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan, keeping the layer thin.
  4. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cake springs back lightly when touched.
  5. While the cake bakes, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in crushed Oreos.
  6. Turn the baked cake onto a powdered sugar-dusted kitchen towel. Peel off parchment paper.
  7. Roll the cake gently from the short end while it’s still warm. Let it cool completely rolled up.
  8. Once cool, unroll and spread the Oreo cream cheese filling evenly over the cake.
  9. Roll the cake back up tightly, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour.
  10. Slice into sushi-style rounds to serve. Garnish with extra crushed Oreos or powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • Vanilla or red velvet cake mix can be used instead of chocolate for variation.
  • Drizzle melted chocolate or ganache over slices for added richness.
  • Add mini chocolate chips to the filling for extra crunch.
  • Chill before slicing for neater results and easier handling.
  • Let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes if too firm when serving.
