Description
A playful and indulgent no-fuss dessert made with a soft chocolate cake rolled around a creamy Oreo cream cheese filling, sliced into fun sushi-style bites perfect for parties and gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 box chocolate cake mix (about 15.25 oz or 3 cups dry mix)
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- Water, as required on the cake mix box
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 10 to 12 Oreo cookies, finely crushed
- Optional: extra crushed Oreos or powdered sugar for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare chocolate cake batter according to package instructions using eggs, oil, and water.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan, keeping the layer thin.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cake springs back lightly when touched.
- While the cake bakes, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in crushed Oreos.
- Turn the baked cake onto a powdered sugar-dusted kitchen towel. Peel off parchment paper.
- Roll the cake gently from the short end while it’s still warm. Let it cool completely rolled up.
- Once cool, unroll and spread the Oreo cream cheese filling evenly over the cake.
- Roll the cake back up tightly, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour.
- Slice into sushi-style rounds to serve. Garnish with extra crushed Oreos or powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Vanilla or red velvet cake mix can be used instead of chocolate for variation.
- Drizzle melted chocolate or ganache over slices for added richness.
- Add mini chocolate chips to the filling for extra crunch.
- Chill before slicing for neater results and easier handling.
