Description
Quick and customizable mini pizzas made with seasoned ground beef, crisp sandwich bread, pizza sauce, melty mozzarella, and your choice of toppings—perfect for weeknights or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 1/2 cups pizza sauce
4 round thin sandwich breads, split
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Optional toppings: sliced black or green olives, sliced bell peppers, sliced red onions
Instructions
- In a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for 8–10 minutes, breaking into crumbles. Season with salt and pepper, then drain excess fat.
- Stir in pizza sauce and cook for 2–3 minutes until heated through.
- Place sandwich bread halves cut side up on a broiler pan rack.
- Spoon equal portions of beef mixture onto each bread half, sprinkle with mozzarella, and add desired toppings.
- Broil 3–4 inches from heat for 4–5 minutes, until cheese melts and bubbles.
Notes
- Swap sandwich bread for naan or pita for a different texture.
- Add crushed red pepper or jalapeño slices for a spicy kick.
- Use part-skim mozzarella and extra vegetables for a lighter option.
- Reheat leftovers in an oven or toaster oven at 350°F to keep bread crisp.
- Freeze unbaked pizzas for a quick future meal—bake from frozen, adding extra time.
