Description
A hearty and cheesy twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak, served on crispy French bread with tender steak, sautéed vegetables, and melted cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread, halved lengthwise
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 lb thinly sliced steak (ribeye or sirloin)
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 small green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional)
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and prepare a baking tray.
- Place halved bread on tray, cut side up.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet and cook steak for 3–4 minutes until browned. Season and set aside.
- In the same pan, melt butter and sauté onions and peppers for 4–5 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Return steak to pan and mix with vegetables.
- Spread mayonnaise on bread if desired.
- Top bread with steak mixture evenly.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and provolone cheese over the top.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Optional: Broil for 1–2 minutes for a golden finish.
- Slice and serve warm.

- Freeze steak briefly before slicing for thinner cuts.
- Toast bread slightly before topping to prevent sogginess.
- Add mushrooms or jalapeños for variation.
- Use different cheeses like cheddar or Monterey Jack if preferred.
- Best served fresh and hot for optimal texture.
