Ingredients

  • 8 slices sturdy bread (like sourdough)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 24 slices pepperoni (optional, or to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix softened butter, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
  2. Spread the garlic butter mixture on one side of each bread slice.
  3. On the unbuttered side of four slices, layer mozzarella, a spoonful of pizza sauce, and pepperoni slices.
  4. Top each with another bread slice, buttered side out.
  5. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook each sandwich for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  6. Slice and serve warm.
