Description
Popcorn Chicken is made from bite-sized pieces of chicken breast, seasoned and fried until crispy and golden. It’s a quick, crowd-pleasing snack or dinner, perfect with your favorite dipping sauces.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs with milk until smooth.
- Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly in the seasoned flour.
- Press the flour onto the chicken to ensure a good coating.
- Carefully fry chicken pieces in batches for 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Repeat with remaining chicken and serve hot with dipping sauces.
Notes
- Add cayenne or chili powder to the flour for extra spice.
- Mix grated Parmesan into the flour for a cheesy flavor.
- For a lighter version, bake at 425°F for 20 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Use an air fryer to reheat and maintain crispiness.
- Chicken thighs can be used for a juicier texture.
