Description

This puff pastry filled with cheese is buttery, flaky, and stuffed with creamy cheese for the ultimate quick snack. Perfect as a party appetizer, savory breakfast, or cozy treat, it’s ready in just over 30 minutes and endlessly customizable.


Ingredients

2 sheets refrigerated puff pastry

150 g herb cream cheese

150 g cheese slices (Gouda, cheddar, mozzarella, or mix)

1 egg yolk

2 tbsp milk

2 tbsp sesame seeds


Instructions

  1. Remove puff pastry from the fridge and let rest at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F), top and bottom heat.
  3. Place one puff pastry sheet on a parchment-lined baking tray.
  4. Spread herb cream cheese evenly over the pastry.
  5. Layer cheese slices on top.
  6. Cover with the second puff pastry sheet, pressing edges gently to seal.
  7. Whisk egg yolk with milk, brush over pastry.
  8. Cut into small squares with a knife or pizza cutter.
  9. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  10. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and crisp.

  • Add sautéed onions, mushrooms, or sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor.
