Ingredients
- Sausage gravy:
- 1 lb ground beef sausage or chicken sausage
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Pie assembly:
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned, breaking into crumbles.
- Sprinkle flour over sausage and stir well. Cook for 1–2 minutes.
- Gradually add milk while stirring until thickened into gravy.
- Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, then remove from heat and cool slightly.
- Roll out one puff pastry sheet and place into a greased pie dish.
- Pour sausage gravy evenly into the crust.
- Cover with second pastry sheet, trim edges, and seal.
- Whisk egg with water and brush over the top.
- Cut small slits on top for steam to escape.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let rest 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving.
