Description

A colorful, layered Tex-Mex dip featuring seasoned refried beans, creamy sour cream, zesty salsa, fresh vegetables, and melted cheddar cheese. Perfect for parties, game days, or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (16 oz / 450 g) refried beans
  • 1 packet (1 oz / 28 g) taco seasoning
  • 1 cup (240 g) sour cream
  • 1 cup (240 g) salsa
  • 1 cup (120 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (150 g) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup (120 g) shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup (60 g) sliced black olives
  • ¼ cup (40 g) chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix refried beans with taco seasoning until evenly combined.
  2. Spread the seasoned beans evenly at the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish or large platter.
  3. Spread sour cream evenly over the bean layer.
  4. Spoon salsa evenly over the sour cream, spreading gently to maintain layers.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the salsa.
  6. Add diced tomatoes in an even layer.
  7. Top with shredded lettuce.
  8. Finish with sliced black olives and chopped green onions.
  9. Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
  10. Serve chilled with tortilla chips or preferred dippers.

Notes

  • Add diced jalapeños or hot salsa for extra heat.
  • Substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream for a lighter version.
  • Add mashed avocado or guacamole between layers for creaminess.
  • Use a Mexican cheese blend instead of cheddar for variation.
  • Add cooked seasoned ground beef or shredded chicken to the bean layer for more protein.
  • Drain excess liquid from salsa or tomatoes to prevent watery dip.
