Smoky lemon garlic grilled oysters are a quick, elegant seafood dish featuring fresh oysters grilled and topped with a buttery lemon-garlic sauce. Infused with smoked paprika and herbs, they’re aromatic, flavorful, and perfect for entertaining.
Ingredients
- 16 fresh oysters in the shell, scrubbed clean
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red chili flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F / 200°C) and clean the grates.
- In a bowl, combine melted butter, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and chili flakes. Mix well and set aside.
- Place oysters flat-side up on the grill. Close lid and cook for 5–7 minutes until shells begin to open.
- Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the butter mixture onto each oyster. Close grill and cook 2–3 more minutes until bubbling and fragrant.
- Remove oysters from the grill. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use fresh lemon juice for best flavor.
- Discard any oysters that do not open after grilling.
- The butter sauce can be prepared up to a day in advance.
- To broil indoors, follow the same method using an oven broiler.
- Add a pinch of smoked sea salt for extra smoky depth.
