Description

Soft & Fluffy Dinner Rolls are tender, golden, and slightly sweet rolls that are perfect for everyday meals or special gatherings. Made with simple pantry staples, these homemade rolls come together easily and bake up beautifully every time.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 egg (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm milk and melted butter. Stir until a soft dough forms. Add the egg if using for a richer dough.
  3. Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes by hand or with a stand mixer until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal portions. Shape each into a roll and place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Cover and let the rolls rise again until puffy (about 30–45 minutes).
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15–18 minutes until golden brown on top.
  8. Optional: Brush tops with melted butter immediately after baking for extra softness and flavor.

Notes

  • Add honey to the dough for a sweeter flavor.
  • Brush with garlic butter after baking for a savory twist.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds or herbs before baking for added texture.
  • Use half whole wheat flour for a heartier version.
