Description

Stuffed Mashed Potato Nests are a delicious twist on classic mashed potatoes, formed into nests and filled with savory seasoned ground beef. With crispy edges and a creamy center, this comforting dish is perfect for cozy dinners or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

  • 35 large potatoes
  • 3.5 tbsp (50 g) butter
  • Fresh dill, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Smoked paprika, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Dried oregano, to taste
  • 1.1 lbs (500 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp oil for sautéing
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Peel and boil the potatoes until soft. Drain and mash with butter, salt, and smoked paprika until smooth.
  2. Stir in chopped dill and let the mashed potatoes cool slightly.
  3. In a skillet, heat oil and sauté onion and garlic until fragrant. Add ground beef, oregano, pepper, and salt. Cook until browned and tender. Set aside.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  5. Using a spoon or piping bag, shape the mashed potatoes into nests on the baking tray.
  6. Fill each nest with a spoonful of the beef mixture. Sprinkle with cheese if desired.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the edges of the potatoes are golden and crisp.
  8. Garnish with fresh dill and serve hot.

Notes

  • Let mashed potatoes cool before shaping to help them hold better.
  • For a vegetarian version, use sautéed mushrooms or lentils instead of beef.
  • Add chili flakes or hot sauce for a spicy twist.
  • Make mini versions in a muffin tin for appetizers.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze before baking.
