Description

Crispy, crunchy sweet and salty popcorn made on the stovetop, perfectly balanced with sugar and salt for a quick and satisfying snack.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil (coconut, olive, or vegetable)
  • ½ cup popcorn kernels
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Place cooking oil and 3 popcorn kernels in a large, deep pot with a tight-fitting lid over medium-high heat.
  2. When the test kernels pop, remove them and add remaining popcorn kernels, sugar, and salt; stir to coat evenly.
  3. Cover the pot and shake every 5–10 seconds to prevent burning and ensure even popping.
  4. When popping slows to 1–2 seconds between pops, remove from heat and continue shaking until popping stops.
  5. Pour popcorn onto a large baking sheet, spread into an even layer, and break up any clumps.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Add cinnamon or vanilla powder for warm, sweet flavors.
  • Drizzle melted chocolate or caramel over cooled popcorn for an indulgent treat.
  • Mix with pretzels, cereal, dried fruit, marshmallows, or toasted nuts for a sweet and salty snack mix.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5–7 days.
  • Best enjoyed at room temperature; reheating is not recommended.
