Description
Crispy, crunchy sweet and salty popcorn made on the stovetop, perfectly balanced with sugar and salt for a quick and satisfying snack.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons cooking oil (coconut, olive, or vegetable)
- ½ cup popcorn kernels
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Place cooking oil and 3 popcorn kernels in a large, deep pot with a tight-fitting lid over medium-high heat.
- When the test kernels pop, remove them and add remaining popcorn kernels, sugar, and salt; stir to coat evenly.
- Cover the pot and shake every 5–10 seconds to prevent burning and ensure even popping.
- When popping slows to 1–2 seconds between pops, remove from heat and continue shaking until popping stops.
- Pour popcorn onto a large baking sheet, spread into an even layer, and break up any clumps.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Add cinnamon or vanilla powder for warm, sweet flavors.
- Drizzle melted chocolate or caramel over cooled popcorn for an indulgent treat.
- Mix with pretzels, cereal, dried fruit, marshmallows, or toasted nuts for a sweet and salty snack mix.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5–7 days.
- Best enjoyed at room temperature; reheating is not recommended.
