Description

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms (shiitake or button)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 burger buns or slices of crusty bread
Instructions
- Season ground beef with salt and pepper, then form into 4 equal patties.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
- In a separate pan, melt butter and sauté onions until translucent. Add mushrooms and cook until tender and golden brown.
- Place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and let it melt.
- Assemble by placing each patty on a bun or bread slice and topping with the mushroom-onion mixture.
- Serve immediately while warm and melty.
Notes
- Use provolone or mozzarella instead of Swiss for variety.
- Spread mayo or garlic aioli on buns for extra creaminess.
- Add caramelized onions for added depth and sweetness.
- Substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- Store patties and toppings separately for best reheating results.
