Description
A simple, versatile dough recipe perfect for pizza, cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, and more. This no-fail base uses pantry staples and delivers fluffy, golden results every time.
Ingredients
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour (440g)
- 1 ½ cups warm milk or water (360ml)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk (or water), sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, shape according to desired use (pizza, rolls, bread, etc.), and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- Use warm water for a dairy-free version.
- For whole wheat dough, replace half the flour with whole wheat flour.
- To make sweet dough, add ¼ cup sugar and 1 tsp vanilla extract.
- Add dried herbs or garlic powder for savory applications.
- Store baked goods in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze up to 3 months.
