Description

A simple, versatile dough recipe perfect for pizza, cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, and more. This no-fail base uses pantry staples and delivers fluffy, golden results every time.


Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour (440g)
  • 1 ½ cups warm milk or water (360ml)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk (or water), sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Gradually add flour, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough, shape according to desired use (pizza, rolls, bread, etc.), and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
  6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Use warm water for a dairy-free version.
  • For whole wheat dough, replace half the flour with whole wheat flour.
  • To make sweet dough, add ¼ cup sugar and 1 tsp vanilla extract.
  • Add dried herbs or garlic powder for savory applications.
