Description

Uncrustable Donuts are a quick and fun dessert made by frying frozen Uncrustable sandwiches until golden and coating them in cinnamon sugar, creating a crispy outside with a soft, creamy peanut butter and jelly center.

Ingredients

  • 6 frozen Uncrustables sandwiches
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Remove the frozen Uncrustables from the freezer and let them thaw for 5 to 10 minutes so they soften slightly but still hold their shape.
  2. Pour the vegetable oil into a medium saucepan or deep skillet and heat over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
  3. In a shallow bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  4. Carefully place two or three Uncrustables at a time into the hot oil.
  5. Fry for about 1 to 2 minutes per side until golden brown and slightly puffed.
  6. Remove using a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. While still warm, roll each fried sandwich in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
  8. Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Do not fully thaw the sandwiches before frying, as they hold their shape better when slightly frozen.
  • Maintain the oil temperature around 350°F to prevent bursting or leaking filling.
  • You can use an air fryer by lightly brushing the sandwiches with oil and cooking at 375°F for 6 to 8 minutes.
  • For variety, try chocolate-filled Uncrustables or dust them with powdered sugar instead of cinnamon sugar.
  • These donuts taste best when served warm and freshly coated.
