Description
Uncrustable Donuts are a quick and fun dessert made by frying frozen Uncrustable sandwiches until golden and coating them in cinnamon sugar, creating a crispy outside with a soft, creamy peanut butter and jelly center.
Ingredients
- 6 frozen Uncrustables sandwiches
- 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Remove the frozen Uncrustables from the freezer and let them thaw for 5 to 10 minutes so they soften slightly but still hold their shape.
- Pour the vegetable oil into a medium saucepan or deep skillet and heat over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
- In a shallow bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
- Carefully place two or three Uncrustables at a time into the hot oil.
- Fry for about 1 to 2 minutes per side until golden brown and slightly puffed.
- Remove using a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- While still warm, roll each fried sandwich in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
- Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Do not fully thaw the sandwiches before frying, as they hold their shape better when slightly frozen.
- Maintain the oil temperature around 350°F to prevent bursting or leaking filling.
- You can use an air fryer by lightly brushing the sandwiches with oil and cooking at 375°F for 6 to 8 minutes.
- For variety, try chocolate-filled Uncrustables or dust them with powdered sugar instead of cinnamon sugar.
- These donuts taste best when served warm and freshly coated.
