Description

White Cheddar Spinach Chicken Burgers are juicy, flavorful chicken patties mixed with fresh spinach and shredded white cheddar cheese. Tender, cheesy, and packed with nutrients, these burgers are perfect for a lighter alternative to traditional beef burgers, ideal for sandwiches, wraps, or lettuce buns.

Ingredients

Burger Patties:

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

For Serving:

  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices white cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1 cup lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise or garlic sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded cheddar, breadcrumbs, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until evenly combined.
  2. Divide mixture into four equal portions and shape into patties about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties 5–6 minutes per side until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  4. If using cheese slices, place one on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover briefly to melt.
  5. Lightly toast burger buns. Spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard on buns, then assemble with lettuce, tomato slices, chicken patty, and top bun.
  6. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • Frozen spinach can be used if thawed and excess water squeezed out.
  • Breadcrumbs and egg help bind the patties to prevent falling apart.
  • Burgers can be grilled, pan-cooked, or baked at 400°F (200°C) for 18–20 minutes.
  • Optional cheese can be substituted with mozzarella, provolone, or mild cheddar.
