Ingredients
- 1 pound red or golden beets
- 1 teaspoon olive oil (optional)
- 1 cup apple puree (optional)
- 1 cup blueberry puree (optional)
- 1 cup sweet potato puree (optional)
- 1/2 cup avocado puree (optional)
Instructions
- Wash beets thoroughly and trim off root and stem ends.
- Cut beets into even slices, leaving skin on.
- Place in a saucepan and cover with water.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until tender (about 20–25 minutes).
- Drain and rinse with cold water until cool enough to handle.
- Rub off skins gently; they should peel easily.
- For puree: blend beets until smooth, adding water as needed.
- Optional: mix in olive oil or other fruit/vegetable purees.
- For baby-led weaning: cut cooked beets into soft, long pieces.
Notes
- Golden beets stain less than red beets.
- Add water gradually for desired puree consistency.
- Combine with fruits or vegetables for variety.
- Ensure texture is appropriate for baby’s stage.
