Description

These buttery melt-in-your-mouth butter cookies are crisp on the outside, soft and delicate inside, and packed with rich buttery flavor. Made with simple pantry ingredients, they are perfect for tea time, holidays, gifting, or everyday snacking.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy and fluffy.
  3. Add the powdered sugar and continue beating until pale and smooth.
  4. Mix in the vanilla essence.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornflour, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix gently until a soft dough forms.
  7. Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle and pipe desired shapes onto the prepared tray.
  8. If the dough feels too soft, refrigerate the tray for 10–15 minutes before baking.
  9. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  11. Cool completely before serving or storing.

Notes

  • Softened butter helps create the light and tender texture.
  • Avoid overmixing the dough to prevent dense cookies.
  • Chilling the dough before baking helps maintain the cookie shape.
  • Cornflour creates a softer and more delicate texture.
  • Mini chocolate chips or chopped nuts can be added for extra flavor.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them crisp.
  • These cookies pair beautifully with tea, coffee, or hot chocolate.
