Description
A hearty and comforting layered dish combining seasoned halal ground beef, fluffy rice, and melted cheese, inspired by classic cheeseburger flavors without the bun.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (halal, 80/20 blend)
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 2 cups cooked white rice (long grain)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook for 4–5 minutes until softened.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking it apart until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add diced tomatoes if using and mix well.
- Ensure cooked rice is warm and fluffy.
- Using a mold or bowl, layer rice at the bottom, then beef mixture, then cheese.
- Repeat layers, finishing with cheese on top.
- Press gently, then invert onto a plate to form a stack.
- Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- Use halal-certified beef to keep the dish compliant.
- Warm ingredients help the cheese melt and hold the stack together.
- Add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra nutrition.
- Swap rice with brown rice or spiced rice for variation.
- Adjust sauce quantity for a juicier texture.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently to maintain texture.
