Description

A hearty and comforting layered dish combining seasoned halal ground beef, fluffy rice, and melted cheese, inspired by classic cheeseburger flavors without the bun.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (halal, 80/20 blend)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 cups cooked white rice (long grain)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook for 4–5 minutes until softened.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking it apart until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Add diced tomatoes if using and mix well.
  6. Ensure cooked rice is warm and fluffy.
  7. Using a mold or bowl, layer rice at the bottom, then beef mixture, then cheese.
  8. Repeat layers, finishing with cheese on top.
  9. Press gently, then invert onto a plate to form a stack.
  10. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use halal-certified beef to keep the dish compliant.
  • Warm ingredients help the cheese melt and hold the stack together.
  • Add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra nutrition.
  • Swap rice with brown rice or spiced rice for variation.
  • Adjust sauce quantity for a juicier texture.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently to maintain texture.
