Description

Ingredients

  • 200 g all-purpose flour
  • 200 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 200 g granulated sugar
  • 150 g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 packet baking powder (about 10 g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 200 g dark chocolate, chopped (for topping)
  • 140 g unsalted butter (for topping)
  • 8 cl liquid cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F) and grease a loaf or pound cake pan.
  2. Whisk eggs and sugar together until pale and slightly fluffy.
  3. Add flour, baking powder, and salt and mix gently until combined.
  4. Melt dark chocolate and butter together until smooth.
  5. Add melted chocolate mixture and vanilla extract to the batter and stir until glossy.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for about 40 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool cake in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  9. For the topping, melt dark chocolate using a double boiler.
  10. Stir in liquid cream until smooth.
  11. Remove from heat and whisk in butter until silky and shiny.
  12. Allow topping to cool slightly, then spread evenly over cooled cake.
  13. Let glaze set before slicing and serving.
