Ingredients

  • 2 (7-ounce) bags butter-flavored puff corn
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C) and lightly grease a large roasting pan.
  2. Spread puff corn evenly in the pan.
  3. In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup over medium-high heat until melted and smooth.
  4. Bring to a boil and cook for exactly 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda (mixture will foam).
  6. Pour caramel over puff corn and gently toss to coat evenly.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven, stir once more, and spread on wax paper to cool.
  9. Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Stirring during baking ensures even coating.
  • Baking soda creates a lighter, crisp texture.
  • Use dark brown sugar for deeper flavor.
  • Avoid refrigerating to prevent stickiness.
