Description
Soft and fluffy golden buns filled with a rich, gooey chocolate hazelnut center, perfect for a sweet breakfast or indulgent snack.
Ingredients
- 1.8 teaspoons dry yeast
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup caster sugar
- 3/4 cup milk, lukewarm
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
- 2 tablespoons icing sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and egg. Gradually add lukewarm milk and mix into a dough.
- Add softened butter and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1.5 to 2 hours until doubled.
- Scoop small portions of chocolate hazelnut spread onto a tray and freeze for about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1 inch thickness. Cut into circles.
- Place frozen chocolate portions in the center, fold and seal tightly into balls.
- Arrange on a baking tray, cover, and let rise for 20–30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Mix egg yolk with milk and brush over buns.
- Bake for 18–20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly, dust with icing sugar, and serve warm.

- Freezing the filling helps prevent leaks during baking.
- Ensure milk is lukewarm to activate yeast properly.
- Seal dough tightly to keep filling inside.
- Best enjoyed fresh and warm for gooey center.
